Dear Police Chief Mauldin,
I got your email
address from the City's web site. I hope this is the correct one to send
this question to. My wife and I moved here from Montana
three years ago. There are some sacrifices one has to make if they want to
live in paradise so we had to sell our two horses. A couple of weeks ago
while we were seeing a play at the Waterfront Playhouse, during intermission we
came out of the theater and saw a police officer sitting on a horse. It
made us both homesick for our two Arabians. We wanted to ask him about
horses in the Keys but he was busy talking with people ahead of us who wanted to
meet his horse.
Since I didn't get a chance to ask him, I thought maybe
you could answer this for me. How many horses do the police in Key West
have and where do you stable them? Do you allow the public to visit the
stables? We would love to be around horses again and maybe help out with
grooming and feeding. Thank you for your time.
